Sunny day in Amsterdam

I love Amsterdam. Especially when  Holland is blessed with the sun! This doesn't happen very often so when it does, you need to take some serious advantage of it! So that's what my cousin Tsjatsja and i did today. Walking around Amsterdam, having lunch at Bagels & Beans, getting candy floss at the carnival on dam square and flaamse frieten at mannetje pis! Loved this day, love the sun and love summery outfits...

Love for Joosje!

There a a few things in life that really make me happy. Vintage shopping is one of them. Yes i can all hear you thinking, wow superficial whatever happened to world peace, but I'm just being honest. For me spending hours on a market searching through piles of clothes that other people call old or costumes ,makes me happy. Finding that one special item or that one dress that you didn't even know you missed until you found it... It has something to do with the hunt, the charge, and finally, strutting around Amsterdam in that one of a kind item, pure bliss! 
Alright I'll be honest, that sounds pretty superficial! But there is another reason why i love vintage shopping. Its not about spending money, it's not about showing of what you have. I love knowing that i can make something fun and me out of that old piece of clothing, i love wearing my grandmothers old skirts and my mothers tight black pencil skirt. I love giving something a second life, making something out of it. Making something out of someone else's hand me downs. 
One of the things I love about Amsterdam is that you have a lot vintage stores. One of my favourite is called, Joosje (Spuistraat 62 H). They have everything from bags, shoes, earrings and all the kind of clothes you van imagine. The people that work there are always willing to help or lend a creative idea to make an outfit work. The clothes i find there i can't imagine them being anyone's trash, but even if they are, they now are my treasure... Let me know what you think of them!

I don't know why but i've always had a 'thing' for tattoos... Same as i've always loved Rock and Roll, guess everything is connected. But let's be honest: who doesn't love looking at these pictures while listening to the rough, smoked and boozed voice of Johnny Cash?

Audition Time

So as a professional dancer I have learned that you actually spend more time auditioning for parts than actually dancing in them. Today was one of those days again, and this time is was for Disneyland Paris! 
Seeing as I've always loved Paris, really want to learn French and don't really have anything else planned for the coming months I thought, why not! 
We started the day of with 200 people, all different shapes and sizes and everyone had to be measured and put into groups. 
After a power point presentaion on disney and what was expected of us, the 'real' audition started. 
The audition was made up of three rounds. The first round we had to act as a cowboy, pirate, dwarf, villain, princess and end with a happy bright bubbly smiling waving version of yourself. 
Thank god i got through this round, don't ask me how, cause i felt like a complete idiot! After that we were asked to do a dance combination. This usually wouldn't stress me out but as we were still left with 120 people, i could hardly see what the choreographer was doing... Luckily my pick up is good so after working my way to the front i had everything under control again ;) 

And jeej, i passed this round aswell! 
Finally they started putting us into three different groups, the costume characters, the parade dancers and the characters that would be acted out by the dancers/performers. I was put into the last group and we were told that we had to wait cause our audition wasn't over yet! The fun was only starting cause we were selected to get transformed into the disney characters.
After a long day, lots of rounds and stressy moments i am proud to tell you that i got accepted as a costume character, parade dancer and as the villain of all villains:  Cruella de Ville!!

Heavenly Tights

Tucked away on the windy corner of Leidsestraat and Keizersgracht is a small store called Body Sox, or as I like to call it  ' Tights Heaven! ' They have all this seasons best tights and my favourite brand: Wolford!
Not only do they have tights but they also sell Wolfords beautiful bodies! Here are some of my favourite tights and bodies!

Life, Love and Laughter

So i figured there's no better time to start a blog than on a Saturday night. Of all the things i could be doing tonight ( i live in Amsterdam so i seriously have no excuse) i'm sitting in my jogging pants, chilly time sweater and warm socks on the couch drinking cheap red wine, listening to Angie Stone and writing my first blog. On this blog you can expect to find fashion, food, art and random updates about my life as a dancer, fashionista and all round life lover! So here's to life, love and laughter.... may it never end
